The hypothesis on this page is presented for the reader to hopefully approximate a better understanding the "vibe" of Singapore and how it has evolved and is evolving, toward ensuring that one's own psyche is able to remove any unnecessary collective-level projection ahead of traumatic spaces like those of collective-level examinations. This hypothesis is derived from a holistic collection of observations and data points, and is also revised as new information is made available to the author. Data sources include:

As with all human individuals, under Individuation Theory, each successive side of a collective psyche is integrated when it overcomes or integrates projection (which in many other collectives often includes abuse, racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, etc.) trauma, or unintegrated material in its unconscious or shadow, and "overcomes itself and its own biases / fears". In the case of states acting as such collectives, this often means the state in question maintaining a fair, thoughtful and objective adherence to its own stated principles and values; a lack of individuation usually means that there is dissonance between these and the actual, enacted behaviour of the collective, just as one would notice with a person who is stubbornly hypocritical or lacking in self-reflexivity and self-awareness.

In Singapore's case, many of the points of integration articulated below revolve around LGBTQ+ Singaporeans because in addition to migrant workers, foreign domestic helpers, sex workers, ex-convicts and a number of other groups, LGBTQ+ Singaporeans are very frequently treated as and even demonised as the Other to a very high degree, with much of Singapore's shadow projected onto us. Withdrawals of projections onto us or any of other groups mentioned (recognising that the problem does not lie with the group but with the entity accusing the group of the problem) via inclusive, affirming or restorative behaviour also definitively aids in individuation, as seen with Singapore's integration of its hypothesised fourth side listed below, for example; one does not need Individuation Theory to understand the collective-level benefits such actions have on the entire community and country, which are even more fully unpacked and articulated via Individuation Theory.

It appears that no one in independent Singapore has quite been able to find common respect from all of Singapore's constituent communities since Edwin Tessensohn, who lived during the colonial era when Singapore was part of the Straits Settlements.

Any attempted takeover of any of the grassroots initiatives I operate.

The acceptance by an international committee does not just validate individuation theory, but signals that Singaporeans can conduct original research into the human psyche, a universal approach that previously Singaporeans struggled to even believe they could accomplish.

My comments in the book as the 2017 PVPA Individual-Youth winner mentioned the validation the award had conferred on me as a gay and non-binary volunteer in a community that remains fairly religious; that these comments appear to have been accepted for publication by a government entity (and quite a public-facing one with substantial prestige) are unprecedented.

Why were they probably related to it?
Language remains a very sensitive issue in Singapore, but the preeminence of Kodrah Kristang and other minority language initiatives means that Singapore also stands very much to gain from its citizens promoting the country as a centre for the revitalisation of culture and other intangible heritage efforts (even though our own history suggests that just 20-30 years ago the opposite would have been true). The net utility of this outweighed, for the first time, the fears and insecurities that would ordinarily be generated by any endeavour that might even only tangentially be seeking to "unite the minority communities".

A Singapore public radio station mentioning that I was gay, and that I had a husband, without first clearing this mention and how it would proceed with either me or my partner.
Why were they probably related to it?
Stringent media restrictions about the presentation of homosexuality are still extant and very much in force, even after the declaration of the repeal of 377A, so usually the state would take careful and considered measures with any mention of it, especially considering the fact that I have never dealt with the state officially as an out gay person, and that the presentation of the above appears to have been positive (I did not actually hear the programme, but heard about it from one of my students.)

Unclear, but possibly a refusal to run the programme, a censoring of it, or a thorough and considered attempt to implicitly remove the mention during preparation of the programme.

My public disclosure of some of the personal sexual and emotional abuse I have faced, including the first names of three of my abusers, on Instagram and Facebook.
Why were they probably related to it?
One of the people who abused me has been featured by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and TEDx, while the other is currently serving in a major capacity within the government; nonetheless, the disclosure also suggested that I was not interested in pursuing any course of retaliatory action against both individuals, and "life went on" without any follow-up investigation, or any media blitz around the naming; the collective-threatening consequences or possibilities of such a disclosure, therefore, did not actually materialise.

Why were they probably related to it?
F1 appears to have been intended to serve as a "vibe reset"-type national event, which in previous years prior to the pandemic, in addition to the supposed economic benefits, would have helped maintain a general sense of normalcy among the general population throughout the calendar year; other such hypothesised "vibe reset"-type national events include Chinese New Year, National Day and (the capitalist / Western industrialised society-leaning elements of) Christmas. However, although this pattern served in previous years, it appears to no longer be reliable as of 2022 with both outcomes above implied to be either in abeyance or just generally not really present as per previous years, also suggested by the informal on-the-ground vibe.

My public disclosure of the institutional abuse I faced in St Joseph's Institution, Catholic Junior College and Eunoia Junior College and the Ministry of Education without any subsequent reaction or incident from the state, in spite of me being a notable public figure known to some degree at an international level and a prominent figure within the Eurasian community (and, still to a degree, the Catholic community), and in addition to the sensitivities surrounding my coming out as listed under the 10th and 8th sides below.

The state recognised that my extremely traumatic experiences were legitimate, and that the reasons behind my disclosure were legitimate and fair, even though they could affect the reputation of all of the aforementioned institutions, as well as the state itself.

His speech and presence at the symposium strongly indicated declared succession plans for the state will continue, even though there seems to be dissonance at state level in terms of maintaining a clear and unified direction after Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong steps down, appearing to be a first for such a transition in terms of its magnitude and visibility.

My coming out as a gay and non-binary teacher while still serving in Eunoia Junior College while also still a Teaching Scholar (Local), the first ever civil servant to do so in a public fashion (Mr Otto Fong's pioneering and still much more amazing achievement in 2007 had been achieved in an independent school).
Why were they probably related to it?
The state kept their word as was declared in 2003, 2018, 2019, 2020 and earlier in the same year of 2021 that LGBTQ+ employees in the Civil Service would face no discrimination for any of their actions, including coming out.
What would a lack of individuation have looked like instead?
Any attempt to shut down or remove my social media posts, my coming out event, and knowledge of the event ever happening, in their entirety (I only had to censor or hide partial sections of my posts at the direction of the college leadership).

The potential of such grassroots movements to craft a City of Good on their own without the need for the state to intervene was respected, even though this went against the previous high level of oversight and control that the state had deployed.

Any attempt to deploy forceful overt or covert state control and/or apathy or even hostility to such efforts, which did not happen in reality, as Pink Dot has unfortunately been subject to since 2009.
