Service Description

What does it mean to tell a Eurasian story? What is a Eurasian story? And can you tell a Eurasian story — even if you are not Eurasian? In this historic new course, we’ll take a look at all the wacky, rowdy and raucous Eurasian short stories, songs, plays and poems that have emerged across our long lively existence in Southeast Asia, honouring for the first time not just works written in or performed in Kristang, but hailing from all of the myriad other ways and worlds of Eurasianness, including Rex Shelley’s The Shrimp People and Joan Marbeck’s Ungua Adansa, Linggu Mai and Seng Marianne — and we’ll also get down and dirty with a bit of the business of writing our own little Eurasian works of wonder. This course is conducted in English and is open to everyone, regardless of ethnicity, background in literature and/or writing! Course details: 10 Tuesdays from 7-9pm starting 28 March 2023 Skips 18 April and 16 May (facilitator out of the country) Ends 13 June 2023 Location: Online Cost: SGD200 per person
